Beige Brown Aesthetic Autumn Vibe Inspiration Photo Collage - CopyA Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system that analyzes and displays geographically referenced information. It uses data that is attached to a unique location.

Most of the information we have about our county contains a location reference: Where are large land parcels for possible development? Are there active storm water pipes in my area? Exactly where are all active fire hydrants?

Lancaster County, SC GIS is to serve as a model for GIS development for the State of South Carolina and its counties. Lancaster County, SC GIS is responsible for overseeing the County's baseline digital spatial databases and providing state-of-the-art mapping and data services to County departments, citizens, other government agencies, and businesses.

Lancaster County, SC GIS is to have pertinent and accurate GIS (and other) information available for all, accessible via phone and computer.

Lancaster County, SC GIS data and services can be used to identify problems, monitor change, manage and respond to events, perform forecasting, set priorities, and understand trends.
