Training

Administer all training request from 18 county fire departments and Lancaster City Fire Department as needed. This is accomplished by receiving training request from all county departments, verify all information on South Carolina Fire Academy course registration form and fax all requests to The South Carolina Fire Academy.  For our records the Training Officer logs and track all information on training worksheet. Training worksheet records requested class information in regards to cost, student minimum / maximum, deadline date, prerequisites, student name, class attendance, and billing. The training Officer also acts as a liaison to the South Carolina Fire Academy and Region Two Coordinator.

Build and maintain a new firefighter In-service training program. Develop schedule and lesson plans to meet current firefighter I &II standards. Develop and maintain all paperwork necessary to document training by individual departments.

Maintain training records and files for all fire service personnel. Receive and copy all department training certificates, distribute all certificates to department Training Officers as needed. Responsible for all training transcripts and copies of certificates in department files maintained at the Fire Service Office. 

The Lancaster County Fire Rescue Training Officer also Attends Training Officers meetings, third Thursday of each month starting at 7:00pm. Prepares an overview of upcoming training and reviews past training classes.
